Christian teaches students ages 6 and up, from beginners to advanced players. He works with motivated children, teenagers preparing for exams or competitions, and adults returning to the instrument or looking to develop serious skill.
Christian offers a consultation where he meets with the parent/student and discusses goals, interests or any other important information to know concerning past lessons, learning styles, and answers any other specific questions the parent/student might have.
Lessons are to be structured based on the interests and goals of the student. Though in general we’d focus on technique (the manner in which we place, hold and move our bodies when playing), repertoire study (learning a select amount of pieces each week to develop those previously mentioned techniques), and ear training (which focuses on the development of one's critical listening skills along with recognizing musical patterns by ear alone).
Lessons would be scheduled on a weekly basis for the same day and times each week at 30-minute increments (30min, 60min, 90min).
Christian teaches from his home studio located in southwest St. Thomas.
If a student misses a lesson without any form of notification, it is considered a NO CALL NO SHOW and will not be rescheduled. In the event of notice of 48 hours or more, lessons can be scheduled for a makeup within the week of the missed lesson. In case of no availability, asynchronous lessons may be scheduled. If two weeks' notice is given, lessons may be cancelled without any charge, or a makeup lesson may be arranged. Missed makeup lessons will not be rescheduled.
If Christian needs to cancel the lesson due to illness or other performance responsibilities, a makeup lesson will be scheduled and honoured. If it is not possible to find a rescheduled day/time for the lesson, the parent/student will be credited the lesson fee in the case of Christian’s absence.
